There must have been something in the water.. Last month, when i suffered from a case of Limerick madness, Nick Paumgarten, in Brooklyn, was going mad too, only his madness expressed it self in other ways, till he started with haiku's (we had a haiku thread going too!) and then there was haiku madness in his neighborhood. you can read all about it in the link to this weeks New Yorker. (a blurb, not a full article) a few of his haiku's .. You from New Jersey honking in front of my house in your S.U.V. Terrorism is a Lincoln Continental leaning on the horn. Smoking cigarettes blasting Hot 97 futilely honking. Oh, forget Enron, the problem around here is all the damn honking. http://www.newyorker.com/talk/content/?020325ta_talk_paumgarten

I think that I shall never see A haiku lovely as a tree... (aren't they supposed to have not just 5+7+5 syllables but also a theme having to do with nature?)
WO'N's Blue Haiku above almost-but-not-quite does what I've not seen before: each syllable is a separate word. This one kept it going until the fifteenth...
Any takers?

I received the following from a friend of mine. These will be of great interest to many AWADers, given the number who live by computers.
Yesterday it worked. Today it is not working. Windows is like that.
Your file was so big. It might be very useful. But now it is gone.
The website you seek Cannot be located, but Countless more exist.
You step in the stream, But the water has moved on. This page is not here.
Chaos reigns within. Reflect, repent, and reboot. Order shall return.
Program aborting: Close all that you have worked on. You ask far too much.
Windows NT crashed. I am the Blue Screen of Death. No one hears your screams.
First snow, then silence. This thousand dollar screen dies So beautifully.
Three things are certain: Death, taxes and lost data. Guess which has occurred.
Out of memory. We wish to hold the whole sky But we never will.
Having been erased, The document you're seeking Must now be retyped.
Serious error. All shortcuts have disappeared. Screen. Mind. Both are blank.

Not only that, but the third line is meant to demonstrate how the first two can be taken as a metaphor for some part of one's life.

What a great piece! He turns his anger into art, his art starts a movement, the movement builds neighborhood solidarity, and maybe begins to solve the problem! I bet he would have been much less successful if he just posted "Please don't honk" signs.
the power of art inspire, unite for change and can be funny
