Most research in biblical archaeology and theology state that Mary Magdalen was not the woman who washed Jesus' feet with her tears. Too much hype as well from the Da Vinci code myths.

Hi Luke, we now have the miraculous tripartite of Maria Magdalena. Yes, weekly themes is the right place. I must have been focussing too much on the word.

Not sure how archeology could have anything meaningful to say about it. As for theology I'm not sure I'd trust that either; too many axes to grind.

I think you are probably right, too many Mary's to deal with, too common a name. Archaeology is not reliable either when dealing with it, as there are no records other than scripture. I guess I was simply commenting on the explanation for the word of the day.
