Could someone please explain who the "us" refers to in May 11's Gibran quote, below? It can't be "people," but I suppose it could be one of "mystics," "poets," or "artists." However, I get the feeling that he was referring to some other group. Does anyone know the answer to this?

I think Kahlil is talking about "us" meaning "mankind today".
I also think that Kahlil's comment could have been clearer if he had said...
"An epoch will come when people will disclaim kinship with us as we disclaim kinship with the monkeys.

Thank you. I understand now. Funny, but in relation to the monkeys I'd been thinking only of genes, not of evolution. No wonder I was bewildered!
