Is anyone else having this trouble? As of the last day or so, when I open a thread I am shown the first post instead of the first new one.
Posted By: Faldage Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/18/09 02:47 AM
Yeah. I've been seeing the same problem.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/18/09 05:10 AM
still working 'normally' here..
Posted By: Faldage Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/18/09 11:15 AM
OK. Firefox 2.0.0.3 with Ubuntu 7.04
Posted By: BranShea Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/18/09 01:03 PM
Normal. No Firefox.
Posted By: Buffalo Shrdlu Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/18/09 02:16 PM
yes, I'm seeing it, too. and posts are no longer marked as unread. (in other words, they're all marked read, which actually means they're not marked. damn language...)

Safari 4.0.4 Mac OS 10.5.8

Yes, I had noticed it, but I was so amazed that they'd gotten rid of the stupid editing modes that I gave it a pass.

Firefox 3.5.5 under Ubuntu Linux 9.10

Working normally for me. Firefox 3.5.5./Windows XP
Posted By: Jackie Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/19/09 03:12 AM
I just sent to Anu. Hope he can help.
Posted By: twosleepy Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/19/09 01:04 PM
If I have to scroll up to the older posts,it's working, right? I have FireFox... :0)
Posted By: BranShea Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/19/09 01:47 PM
I only noticed the 'Submit through HTML and UBBCode' is no longer available.Maybe that Poll Manager was always there. I never noticed it before. I checked 'my preferences' but there is nothing there.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/19/09 05:10 PM
HTML is enabled.
UBBCode is enabled..

let's see if they work‽ [at least I see the interrobang]

edit: but no longer going to new posts!! (it was working for me just last night!!!)
Posted By: BranShea Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/19/09 10:02 PM
'It was an ancient mariner and..'
(just checking)
I see the text :
HTML is enabled.
UBBCode is enabled... but when I used the Preview Post before, automatically a little window opened giving the choices : use this or that or that. Now it doesn't. No more funny glyphs.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/19/09 11:02 PM
>No more funny glyphs.

so, you don't see the interrobang in my previous‽
(that's a funny glyph too.)
Posted By: Jackie Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/20/09 02:03 AM
I saw both interrobangs but still was taken first to my OP.
Posted By: Faldage Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/20/09 02:41 AM
Where these interrobangs sposed to be?
Posted By: Jackie Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/20/09 02:49 AM
After work, here: let's see if they work&#8253 ; [at least I see the interrobang], and after previous, here: so, you don't see the interrobang in my previous‽

Weird--in my Preview screen I see &#8253 in the first one and the actual interrobang in the second one.

Edit: in the actual post I just see the code.
Posted By: BranShea Re: Not going to new posts? - 11/20/09 08:48 AM
mad GRRrrr, stuwm. If you would just use ordinary words every little once in a while. How do I know what an interrobang is ? (grrrrrr) I saw a funny question mark, but I thought there was a tiny fly sitting on my screen.

For me the possibility to pull weird glyphs through the tranformation tunnel is no longer there. It DOES NOT deliver the little choice window anymore!!! Obviously Jackie had the same problem in her last post. I get the last posts though. Boy, am I lucky.

Jackie: "After work, here: let's see if they work‽ ; [at least I see the interrobang], and after previous, here: so, you don't see the interrobang in my previous‽ "

OK! It DOES work in the quick reply mode. See my perfect INTERROBANG. Grrr.

The interrobang. The US advertising executive, Martin K. Speckter, invented it in '62.

laugh You see? I always give everyone a fair chance to escape.
Posted By: BranShea Re: questioning exclamations - 11/20/09 03:25 PM
Reminds me of the criminal organisation Spectre in the Bond-movies. It used iterrobang methods for questioning.

Posted By: Jackie Another problem? - 11/21/09 04:18 AM
Oh yes--I got a PM today but was surprised to find it when I got here: I did not get an e-mail notice of it as usual.
Posted By: Buffalo Shrdlu Re: Another problem? - 11/21/09 01:06 PM
I hope they get this sorted out soon. it's annoying me more than I thought it would.
Posted By: Jackie Re: Another problem? - 11/22/09 03:45 AM
Well, that was weird: on a hunch, I went to my Edit Preferences page, and found that somehow my "Do you want to be notified via email when you receive a private message?" had gotten changed to "No".

Edit-- This is interesting: I have a list of back-and-forth PM's, and when I click on that it takes me to the latest one. I'll let Anu know; maybe he can find out what's causing the difference.
Posted By: tsuwm same old problem, but.. - 11/22/09 11:01 PM
I notice something that I don't remember being mentioned here yet (and I can't be arsed to read through the entire thread again):
new messages aren't flagged as being new!

I mention this now thinking it might be helpful in debugging the originally stated problem; i.e., not going to new posts.
-ron (possibly not) o.
Posted By: latishya Re: same old problem, but.. - 11/22/09 11:19 PM
I am still unable to replicate this problem.
Posted By: Jackie Re: same old problem, but.. - 11/23/09 01:59 AM
You're right, M; I had noticed it without noticing it. I did notice a few minutes ago that in one category there were two threads with new posts in them; yet when I finished the first one and went back to the category page, the second thread no longer had a 'new' flag beside it. I think this upgrade needs some debugging.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: same old problem, but.. - 12/06/09 02:32 PM
hey! I'm being taken to the new messages this morning.
Posted By: zmjezhd Re: same old problem, but.. - 12/06/09 03:21 PM
I'm being taken to the new messages this morning.

I assume something changed as yesterday I was asked to check a box saying I would abide by the rules of the board (which were not listed or linked to).

I got the same box. :¬ (

I got the same box.

Must be a default for the new software. It should happen once the first time after an upgrade.

yeahbut® this was a couple weeks after the upgrade. weird, huh?
Posted By: tsuwm Re: same old problem, but.. - 12/06/09 10:18 PM
don't you think, since the problem got fixed, that the upgrade must have been upgraded? I saw the box too, but just the one time this morning.
Posted By: Buffalo Shrdlu Re: same old problem, but.. - 12/06/09 10:24 PM
is it fixed? I haven't tried the old way of navigating for a few days, so I guess I'll need to wait until there are several new posts!
Posted By: Faldage Re: same old problem, but.. - 12/07/09 12:16 AM
Likewise.
Posted By: Buffalo Shrdlu Re: same old problem, but.. - 12/07/09 11:16 AM
yay! seems to work now. thanks!
