today's dictionary.com word is benignant

it sounds so unfavorable and unkind when said aloud -- must be that hard G, like in malignant and indignant.

yes, and it being nig doesn't help. strange word. maybe pronounce it as if it were French?

Good gracious--I had always assumed it was be-NINE-ant. [shame e] Thanks, m. Not very bright, I guess, because I've always said ma-LINE and ma-LIG-nant! Is anybody ever in-DINE?
