I called someone for insulting me while veiling it as a compliment. I figured this condition probably has a term, and apparently it does. Charientism. Defined as "a gracefully veiled insult" (
http://home.mn.rr.com/wwftd/abc.htm#charientism ). I thought I'd share this finding...
I wonder if it is related to charleton (sp?)?
Would you consider it a left-handed compliment as well? That would be sinister
According to
Merriam-Webster Online charlatan comes from Italian.
Thanks for sharing. What a cool word.
So that would make the individual insults themselves "charients of ire"?
Charientism: "The Rt Hon. Gentleman has a wonderful imagination for facts."
