I'd say ~ is an obvious euphemism for horse p*ss, itself a common enough epithet for bad beer. as in, "Boy, this Dakota Beer tastes like horse p*ss."**

you surely wouldn't use the real McCoy in an advert.

** words I think I myself once uttered. Dakota beer was green, short-lived, and truly awful.
