It is unfortunate that the university and college teachers had to resort to a countrywide stir pressing for higher wages when the central government had only recently revised their pay scales. With their indefinite strike, colleges and universities all over the country have closed down, which is highly detrimental to national interest. The teachers who are architects of society have taken to methods that are destructive. Do these members of teachers' fraternity realise what a dreadful example they are setting before the upcoming generation? Unknowingly they are fuelling a vicious cycle of agitations where social discipline is the first casualty.
The situation leads one but to think as to what will be the future of our country if there are persistent agitations and strikes by none other than opinion builders themselves like teachers and doctors.
One hopes realizing their dignified status in society and their crucial social role the teachers will try to seek solutions to their problems through means that befit their image.
