OP I haven't seen "meed" for a long time. It reminds me of
"meet" meaning fitting, proper.
And "mede" as a verb:
... he was requited, for it is the way of God to mete out punishment measure for ... be dutiful and deferential, yet it was Shem who deserved the larger meed of praise
