Loc: Ohio USA A prominently featured Op Ed piece in the Monday " New York Times" having to do with the lack of hand cleanliness in hospitals reminded me of a good word. NOSOCOMIAL means a disease contracted while in the hospital and is closely related to IATROGENIC, meaning "physician caused" disease.

Loc: Malaga, Spain. Fine post!
I love those medical words that can keep the layman in a happy ignorance.
My favorite ones:
-It's a lot easier prescribing someneone a test for "lues" that a test for syphilis.
-When they say "idiopathic" instead of saying "I don't know jack about your problem".
Juan Maria.
