Dear AWAD staff,

THANK YOU for using the correct definition of "hacker" -- and for teaching me some I didn't know! As a hacker since 1985 (yes, I'm a newbie), I've always cringed when people or groups have used the word hacker in a malicious manner. I think this was rampant in the 1980s, but it's still around today. Some religious magazine or group said that "hackers are promoting child pornography," or something along those lines. I wondered who amongst my compatriats in the Linux/PowerPC development arena are doing this, as I've never once seen or heard it mentioned.

Anyway, thank you much! I look foward to getting my word of the day every day. :)

Welcome, Jason--

I, too, enjoyed reading the fine distinctions of the term.
I wonder if your religious maligners are the same ones who said that the Teletubby was gay! Geez!

Note, however, that on this Board you are not a "Newbie"
yet! That's one of Anu's official designations!
