This is a term I only first heard recently, but apparently it is well established, and means something akin to doofus. Does anybody have info on this term? Complete definition, etymology, usage tips?

From certain connections, I'm wondering whether the term originated in the tech world.

For example: http://www.dotcom.org/ntac/

I've heard this a lot in the past year or so.
I had thought it was a reference to homosexuals
until I looked it up.

No idea what authority the page author claims.
No idea of the etymology.

I would guess that it's simply a bastardization of the term "class clown", one who is the school jokester and perennial nuisance to the teacher.
