Loc: Rio Grande, Cape May County, N... Well, the Olympic figure skating debacle has provided us a fresh coinage: Skategate. (which I kinda like)
And, recently, as mentioned in Jazzo's thread, we've had Enronomics, Enronitis, and Enronistic...
(soon to come...Enronics? Enronical?)
Opinions of Skategate? Any other new or recent words to add?

Loc: London, UK Well we're currently in the middle of 'Garbagegate'
See http://www.guardian.co.uk/Archive/Article/0,4273,4355436,00.html
extract:
Under fire for his role in aiding an Indian businessman to purchase Romania's major steel plant, Mr Blair angrily dismissed the accusations as "Garbagegate."
He added: "It's not Watergate, it is Garbagegate. It's the biggest load of garbage since the last load of garbage, which was Enron."

I like it! It gives a new twist to meaning of the --gate suffix. Non-scandal rather than scandal.
A whole new word unto itself really.

Loc: London, UK Ah yes, but is it a 'non-scandal' to hide the real scandal??

Posts: 1289 My opinion of any new word incorporating the suffix 'gate' is 10 thumbs down. I pity anyone whose intellectual capacity is so meager and his imagination so lacking as to have to resort to anything so hackneyed. Give it a rest, for mercy's sake!
