The use of the term squaw is now considered so offensive to aboriginal Americans that the board is systematically removing it from names of things like lakes and passes (there was a Squaw Pass here in Colorado and I remember reading somewhere that it would likely be changed.) Now what they'll do when they get to Squaw Valley is a good question. That's a pretty good sized area to suddenly rename.
