Here is a thread to post nominations for this year's TEddy trophy, to be awarded to the best/worst pun posted on the board between now and the Wordapalooza.

And the first nominee is HYLA, for:

In reply to:

ancient Hebrew has no tense

I thought they lived in them, out in the desert and all.

I'm truly honored to be nominated, but I'd much rather TEd return and resume his rightful place.

And here is Hyla, bucking for a second nomination before anyone else has had his first! Way to aim low, Hyla!

The TEddy bear prize comes wearing big boots for splashing in the gutter. Oh! no, wait that's Paddington Bear.

Well, thanks for the attention, which any guy is likely to enjoy - though I suspect the tension will be wearing thinner by the time of the great Wordapalooza if we can not think of some other poles of humour to peg our ideas on.

some other possible award categories:
welcommen - for acts of mercy above and beyond
Digressions-on-Demand (DoD) - for most outre' DoD
no-stinkin-badges - for gutter policing (and the like) activities
what's-ambiguous-about-pc? - political correctness (or not)? personal computing? printed circuits? phrase conjugation? whatever, we've got you covered

well, just some thoughts; I'm sure we can do better.

To say that I am flattered is an understatement. The only person flatter is Twiggy.

I have to admit that I am sore amazed at having such a prestigious organization as AWAD create an award in my name. And particularly so because I haven't been around in months.

I've been busier this past not quite a year than I've been in some time. Theo's five, almost six, and Sasha will be four next January. Peggy went back to work last November 1, and I've had to pick up a great deal of the slack. In addition, I've been doing extensive work around the house. For example, the only thing that got laid in MY house over the weekend was 250 sf of new laminate flooring. And 550 sf to go.

Beyond that I'm still working full time (one year, one month and 12 days to go!) and I've started working on my second novel.

When I logged on I saw somewhere in the vicinity of 20,000!!! new messages. It's SO intimidating. I remember when I first logged on and there were maybe 1500 or so messages total. It seems to me that a newbie would be so overwhelmed he or she would just leave. Is that becoming a problem or are you still getting an influx of new people?

I've got a couple of new puns floating around that I hope to share with you soon, but today I'd like to bring to your attention the Top Five List, which I get every day. Recently, they puit together:

The Top 16 Dishes Found at a Cannibal Buffet

Local restaurant (the one where CapK, SWMBO and I had dessert when they were in town) has an Annette Spinachello Salad and a Tina Tuna Sandwich.
