On the above data base, my great-grandmother's cause of death is given as "maemia" - I cannot find out what it means by Googling. A fellow genealogist's ancestor died of "paedotrophia" - and she cannot find out what that is, either. Is it possible that the British concentration camp authorities wrote down any medical-sounding words they could devise to disguise the fact that people were dying like flies of starvation and so on? Or are those really medical terms?

Part of it may be the ligature æ being replaced by e. That said, I find nothing in onelook for memia, but pedatrophia does yield this.

maemia

It might be a transcription error for anaemia.

pedatropia or marasmus: extreme malnutrition and emaciation (especially in children); can result from inadequate intake of food... I'll say!

Thank you for the welcome. Where must I draw you a sheep? Why must I draw you a sheep?

I think the signature is a quote from Winny the Pooh and something like a rethorical question.

The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
May be rhetorical; some take it literally.

Exactly, Peter. I responded to the question in
a PM. Since the Pilot cannot draw very well, he
draws a box, and tells the Prince that the sheep
is in the box, which satisfies him.
