Very few of the performers, players, directors, and conductors can write a coherent statement, let alone an autobiographical paragraph, plot synopsis, or introduction to a musical composition. The conductor who has finally achieved competence in writing has, of course, recently retired. I'm nowhere near perfect, but I don't think I miss much.
