Mercy--I thought it was a verb, also! Prolly I just hocus-pocused ( smile ) it into my personal vocabulary as such.

well, larrup is a verb; to beat, flog or thrash:

I'll larrup you till you can't stand.

and we all know how easy it is to noun a verb:

Your father'll give you a fine larrupin' if he comes home and there's that cow lost.

and then, reverbing the noun:

Heard the first spatter of drops, the outriders Larruping on the road.

Larruping is also the progressive form of the verb.

Yer paw'll be larruping you up one side and down the other when he finds out whut you done.
