Loc: Australia Is there a word for someone who is interested and knowledgeable about tying knots?
My daughter suggests Knot Nerd but that seems somewhat perjorative!
However her inlaws are Greek. Perhaps if I found the Greek for knot and put ist on the end it would be correct.

Loc: Louisville, Kentucky Welcome, OT! Well--I looked up the origin of knot, thinking you might be able to add ...phile onto the end of a root and get something at least semi-meaningful, but here's what I found at Dictionary.com:
Origin:
bef. 1000; (n.) ME knot ( te ), OE cnotta; c. D knot, G knoten to knit; (v.) ME, deriv. of the n.
None of the synonyms for knot jumped out at me as good candidates, either. Knot nerd sounds fine to me!

Loc: R'lyeh One Greek word for 'knot' is στραγγαλις (strangalis, strangalidos), but the Latin word for knot is nodus. So, I guess a strangalidophile or strangalidolog(ue) might do._________________________

Loc: this too shall pass a Gordian is "one skilled in tying intricate knots", according to the OED, and a knotter is simply "one who knots or ties knots".
but I know, not exactly what you're looking for..

I'm not surprised you avoided saying, "now don't be naughty!"
