The --pop question in the other thread reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask, here. Although I tend to say lolleepop, I have always said cauliflower as cawl-ih-flower; there is a cook on the Food Network who pronounces it as flower. What do you-all say: ih or ee? (I know it looks odd to have a picture; but the way she says it, I can't help but think collie dog.)

We had a band in HS called The Melancholy Flower. We pronounced it like the fruit, the dog & the bloom. We played one gig in an Irish bar in the Bronx. After the gig, I don’t remember how we pronounced it. At home in Northern NJ, we called the white cruciferous veggie, the same, minus the fruit.

Heh. I was going to say that I pronounced it the same way you do, but then, that's just not true. I say "cauliflower" the way a Northerner says "cawl-ih-flower". No dogs are involved.
