I called someone for insulting me while veiling it as a compliment. I figured this condition probably has a term, and apparently it does. Charientism. Defined as "a gracefully veiled insult" ( http://home.mn.rr.com/wwftd/abc.htm#charientism ). I thought I'd share this finding...

Would you consider it a left-handed compliment as well? That would be sinister

According to Merriam-Webster Online charlatan comes from Italian.

"Left-handed compliment" does sound like an equivalently simpler term for this... still, ain't no nothin' simple in this forum, sista.

Was happy to, Hydra.

You catch on pretty quick, gobgee [high fivin'-e]

BTW, an example of charientism might be "That dress looks really good on you. It makes your butt look sooo much smaller. "

So that would make the individual insults themselves "charients of ire"?
