WOW.

Honestly, I don't subscribe to any of the general notions about "THE MAN" building a huge, complex conspiracy against the average citizen.
This is from personal experience. I have worked as a contractor in the US Congressional offices and the people working in Government are JUST NOT SMART ENOUGH to pull of any such thing. The things that appear to be sophisticated plots are simply dumb luck.

dale,
I sent you a private message about this, but I think you should consider deleting this thread.

eta: Sorry, I didn't receive it, perhaps it was rejected by my Norton algorithm (sorry, I still haven't found any good synonyms). As I'm not easily offended (you can't be and survive on the WWW), please feel free to reproduce your objection to my thread below as a followup to this one. Thank you for all your past and future contributions

oh come off it dale.

one minute you're so smart, the next minute you can't (won't, refuse) to remember that cross references links to post on wordcraft is considered bad manners.

you have have made up your mind about certain things, and are not bothered by the facts, are you?

time and time again, you insist that we come round to your way of thinking (since you think it's it so superior) and time and time again, we politely ask, pm, ignore your exhorations.

you like wordcraft--great. i know several members of this board who agree with you.. BUT YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO KEEPS STARTING TOPICS THERE, and THEN POSTING LINKS HERE, AND ENCOURAGING US TO GO THERE.

If we want to go to wordcrafter we can (and do) and if we don't, we don't. we are not children who have to be told "eat your spinach" (or go to wordcrafter) we are quite capable of finding word related site that interest us all on our own.

it's not gently teasing, it's rude, cruel, and thoughtless poking with a stick. and that you are laughing as you poke doesn't make if fun. and if you can't understand the difference, you are severly lacking in social skill.

since you asked : I believe in the quote Bob gave.
I recall the McCarthy era clealy and also remember that the Senator claimed the "Commies" had infiltrated the Courts, the Legislature, the Press and the movies ... I thought then that if the "Reds" were in all those positions of power and hadn't managed to take over - well- they were too stupid and inept to worry about.
To boil it down; I disagree with your post and agree with the quote.

I don't think you can reject a PM, unless you have that the user that sent it on "Ignore".

One last time...
Algorithm is to program what sentence is to book. Synonyms for sentence will not help correct the problem in "_War and Peace_ is a very long sentence".
