I've probably sung its praises before here on AWAD, but I must mention again the French film Ridicule to anyone who enjoys repartee. It's about an earnest and relatively poor nobleman who travels to Versailles to try to petition King Louis XVI for royal funds to drain a swamp. He ends up getting wrapped up in the court life at Versailles, where wit is paramount. One of the main characters is an aging country doctor who personifies esprit d'escalier.
