Greetings,

I am new to this board, although have been a WAD subscriber for years. I was advised that members of this board could help me locate a word for which I only have a partial meaning.

The word I am seeking means something to the effect "a person who associates with intelligent people" and may also include "so as to appear intelligent".

Do any of the board members have suggestions on this word? I would certainly be appreciative of any help.

Hi, welcome and I'm afraid I'm not much help. There are lot's of terms for "trying to appear" but I doubt that is what you are looking for.

Oh, would "Quasi-intellectual" help at all? Not quite the same thing but the closest I can think of.
