I've never seen it with the "h", but it's usually a nickname. oftentimes a big, burly sorta guy...

Now I started wondering if the spelling had been all right.. I thought the word was some kind of Indians' greeting, 'peace brothers' or the like. But Czech or Polish interjection? I'm confused ;P
