I was sure I could remember having used this word in a post about a year ago. But search said "no matches".
A spellingbee word:
espaliers. Fruit trees or other plants trained to grow flat against a building, wall, railing, trellis or other support. “Harriet walked up the broad and neat gravel walk, which led between rows of espaliers to the front door.”

We see espaliers all around; most Americans probably just don't know the name for them. I certainly didn't until I went to work some years ago for Jackson & Perkins rose company.
