Posts: 13858 I wondered about etymology of "nectar":
nectar - 1555, from L. nectar "drink of the gods," from Gk. nektar, said to be a compound of nek- "death" + -tar "overcoming." Meaning "sweet liquid in flowers" first recorded 1609
