I posted this word a year ago, but I'll bet nobody remembers it. In O.Henry short story The Skylight Room
a girl typist has not been able to earn any money for
food and collapses. O.Henry missed the chance to have
the ambulance doctor use the word.

inanition [ˌýnə'nýʃən]
noun
1 exhaustion resulting from lack of food

2 mental, social, or spiritual weakness or lassitude
[ETYMOLOGY: 14th Century: from Late Latin inanitio emptiness, from Latin inanis empty; see inane]

I don't remember your posting about it, Dr. Bill, but I knew the word anyway.
