I'll go for g, and I like your word definiens. GuruNet says it's from Latin definiens*, present participle of definire*, to define. Makes me want to say something along the lines of, "Dose Finians are de finest tings I ever cam across."

* These words had lines or carets over most of the vowels; they reproduced as cedillas. :-(

K is very clever - but I don't believe it. So I'll go for 'h'. Mind you the shoelace device is just about strange enough to be true, and it's very Victorian, they loved all those tricky little inventions...but no, I'll stick with 'h'.

I'm sure the hogmaster has appointed a literary executor to take care of these things, just in case.

quite so, max: the denizons of the Scottish Islands, when making such a promise, will always add, "... if the Lord spares me," as a rider. To do otherwise is to tempt fate far to much!
I mean -- his literary executor might take the job too literally!

"come what may" evidently excludes computer problems..

meanwhile, the OED def'n is L (kudos to Bingley and maverick), and there was a multiway tie at the top with 2 points.. (maahey[h], mav[c], RC[j], ron[a] -- if I recall correctly; all my records are at home.)
