Here is a list of words sought to be banished from the lexicon by a distinguished group of purists.

not so much words as clichés.
now a case can be made for telegraph.. even AT&T is now leagally AT&T--they dropped the words telephone and telegraph from their legal name..
who telegraphs anything nowday?
BLOG – and its variations, including blogger, blogged, blogging, blogosphere. Many who nominated it were unsure of the meaning. [e.a.]
And we should take such asssholes seriously?
I nominate the word purist, on account of I don't know what it means :)
"Telegraph" is still a word of some utility, albeit less than it was when it was used to describe communication by dots and dashes. A person playing a sport is sometimes described as telegraphing when she/he does something which gives a prior indication of how she/he is about to move, e.g. "The fighter would have been more effective with the left hook had he not telegraphed it every time he threw it."
What's that other list, is it New York Times, that seeks new definitions...?
OK, I offer puerist a Catholic priest <EG>

maverick, as in politician...they just don't get elected anymore, do they?
Then there's "recorded live." Well how the heck else could they record it?
