Did you know that polar bear hair is not white? It is translucent, sorta like fishing leader.

and a polar bears skin is a dark shade (not quite black) so its good at absorbing heat..

and its translucent hairs have hollow cores to trap air. (some of the newest synthetics fibers are tubes too, for the same reason.)
