Bloomsday is on the 16th! Are there Joyce fans out there? Are there celebrations in your neck of the woods? Google has some links you can browse.
I will probably reread a chapter of Ulysses. That's all the time I have.
Happy Bloomsday to all you Joyce lovers!

It feels lonely out here. Just by myself celebrating Bloomsday.
But no matter. I watched "The Dead" last night, a movie adaptation of his novella or short story. It is a very well made movie that takes you into a dark but musical world, lots of oral delights. All the actors were superb.

The title made me think about a phrase--"let the dead bury its dead"...What does that mean really?

Just thinking...
While using ellipses, wrongly or rightly.

I like the symbolism of the names of the people at the dinner party in the dead. Freddie Malins, the sick one who ate celery, I believe, for his blood; Gretta, Gabriel's wife, "regret" embedded in her name for the memory of the boy who had died in love with her; Miss Ivors, which has some etymological reference to war, and she was always arguing. Every single name in the story has some symbolic reference.

Today would be a good day to eat kidneys in honor of Leopold Bloom. It would be a good day to make love in honor of Molly Bloom. Yes.

Sorry, wordcrazy, that you celebrated "alone"! - but what a grand way to celebrate. You have reminded me of a wonderful movie....I must rent it and watch it again sometime. That final scene, with the snow falling.....(I hope I'm remembering it correctly)

Let us go in peace to love and serve the board.
