Dammit, Max--you KNOW I take everything literally!
Idiot that I am I pressed the darn button.
OK, you all, fess up. How many of you fell for this?
I did - but just because I had to see what it would do. Precocious, inquisitive, curious, investigative... call me what you will.
ESC-ing out doesn't work.
So then it became a *challenge*.
Well, you know I did too. Thank God somebody here told me about Ctrl/Alt/Del. I finally figured out what to do, without shutting down.
Max--will I EVER learn??? [blowing you a forgiving kiss e]
That's Ok, Jackie, even the gal at our help desk was stunned for a minute or two!
Thanx Max... its a great one!
I pressed the button and it didn't to anything other than give me a little window that said "YOU HAVE." Had to open that little thing in a new window to see the full message. Rather uneventful otherwise. It didn't actually freeze up your browser, did it? Must be a Windows thing . . .
It didn't actually freeze up your browser, did it? Oh, NO, of COURSE it didn't do anything as awful as that...it just took my whole screen, so that there was nothing for me to click on--no bottom bar (what is that thing called, anyway?), no handy little X, nothing.
no bottom bar (what is that thing called, anyway?), no handy little X, nothing.Hmm . . . like I said, must be a Windows thing.
And I suppose you lot are the kind of people who have to stick their fingers into the wall socket to prove to themselves that electricity really is dangerous?
My keyboard has a little Windows key thingy. I pressed that and my bottom bar reappeared, along with all the other Windows options(I call them my pull-up menu). I just clicked on the AWAD folder to bring it back on screen. Gonna have to think how I can close that darn button folder tho'. Hmmmmm. Very good chuckle, Max. More like a giggle. No, come to think of it, I was laughing pretty loud.
OK, so I pushed the darn button! It took the whole screen and turned it black and
wouldn't go away![crying and stomping feet-e] I tried all my tricks, then shut the whole dang computer down and started over! Alt and F4 Keiva? It was that simple?
Sheesh!
thank goodness I remembered control alt delete. I thought I'd lost 2 hours of work.

If I may speak with JazzO:
Macs rule
I just got a cute little button and then a small, manageable black screen.
Jazz, I guess this is why hackers don't write E-mail viruses for us. Come into my cave.... [cackle]
Macs ruleOf course, they're the Rolls Royce of the computer market.
By the way, the MacWorld website has an article about my school's use of Macs. I can't remember the exact link, but I have a link to it on my webpage:
http://ecoop.uc.edu/students/daviscp Edit: that link might not work for a while. The server (not a Mac) seems to be down today.
the Rolls Royce of the computer marketTrue, Jazzo - quite pretty in a quaint kinda way, but desperately uneconomic
