Hi everyone

Just taking a minute out to say hi.

Now, for anybody that hasn't heard yet. AWADtalk is having its first ever Wordapalooza get-together - a chance to meet everybody you've been talking with here on AWADtalk. Many thanks to Sparteye for starting the ball rolling on this one.

In June of 2002 (week-end of the 22nd & 23rd*) we are all meeting in Lansing, Michigan for a week-end of fun and games.

For those who do not know yet, I am putting together the WP yearbook. After WP, when we've had a chance to take pictures and all, it will be printed up like a real yearbook (thank you to my little brother on that one) with a copy for everyone attending.

HOWEVER, (listen up Jackie sweetie), like every yearbook since time began, you have to fill in a bit of a survey to go with your picture. It is a fun survey, a little offbeat but hey, aren't we all anyway )

So, if anybody is interested in coming drop me a private message. I try to pop into my mail box once a week to see if I have any notes. Let me know what your e-mail is and I'll send you more information subito-presto.

Salut tout le monde!

P.S. I really do miss you all. I wish this work streak would calm down but I'm not holding out much hope for a lull anythime before Christmas. Cross your fingers for me though. This Friday is salary review. I am asking for a hefty (and definitely merited) raise.

Deux becs to everybody.

* dates revised -thanks Sparteye, it's a good thing you caught that

Thanks, BelM.

Actually, the Wordapalooza! base dates are June 22 and 23, 2002.

This is very good news....the dates of the weekend. End of June would have been impossible.

Now, what is a good route from central Virginia to Michigan? I am a white-knuckle flier who holds planes up with her hands, a little known truth about how planes really fly by the grip upward bound of white knuckle fliers. Will drive instead because otherwise I'd have to be heavily medicated to survive a flight, and then no good for Scrabble.

Just thought I'd let people know that I am considering a camping tour around Lake Michigan for the week following Wordapalooza if anyone would be interested in forming part of a caravan, let me know. Three places I'd like to go for sure are North Shore Dunes(don't know if that's the actual name, but I know it's an actual place), hiking trail along the cliffs at Pictured Rocks near Munising, Mi.(camping at Canoe Lake and there are loons there), and Stone Circle. I'm talking primitive campsites and cooking over a campfire. Any good sites for this in Wisconsin, please let me know.

Are newbies welcome to this shindig? Of course by then..I won't be a newbie! I did want to take the time to thank you all for your wonderful welcomes. I hope my sense of humor hasn't put too many of you off. It's nice to be part of this wonderful group and I truly would love to come and meet the folks behind the names.

Do you have a piano?

What sense of humor?

Now, Jackie, can't we all just get along?

Now, Jackie, can't we all just get along?

Thank you, my dear Faldage, but Jackie and I get along just fine! Right girlfriend?

Hey...no one answered me. Am I invited?

Posted By: Sparteye Re: WORDAPALOOZA reminder - 01/07/02 01:18 AM
Yes, Angel. All who wish to attend, and who are prepared for an event akin to an international slumber party, are welcome.

In fact, I'll take your query as a good opportunity:

Anybody who hopes to attend and who is not already included on the Email list for Wordapalooza! organizational info should Email or PM me now, so that I can update my list. Please include your Email in your message to me.

Sorry, WW, we have no piano.

I doubt if I'll be able to attend, but I still like the idea of AWADcam...

Correctamundo, journeygirlfriend!

So, DubDub, reckon you'll have to pack your pie-anny in your hip pocket and bring it, hmm?

Posted By: Wordwind Re: WORDAPALOOZA reminder - 01/07/02 09:51 AM
Dear Sparteye,

Well, we'll have to sing in four-part harmony, I suppose, and make the best of it--unless we can bring along our fiddles. Any fiddlers out there? I can saw away a little, and I think you play, Jackie, to there's a duo. And someone here's a cellist, I do believe. Ah, that's just too hard to carry and cellists tend to forget their cellos and leave 'em in the trunks of taxis. We'll just do the four-part vocal arrangements.

Best regards,
WW

Don't know if I can come, but I do have a violin. If I come, I can try to bring it. Even if I can't, I absolutely love unaccompanied vocal music!

Posted By: satin Re: WORDAPALOOZA music - 01/14/02 04:15 PM
My kid has a table top electronic keyboard that I will throw into the camper. And any other musical stuff I can come up with but I don't play so you'll have to come up with the musick-ians.

Posted By: Faldage Re: WORDAPALOOZA reminder - 01/14/02 06:15 PM
The Lugnuts have home games on the 22nd and 23rd and road games in Battle Creek (a mere hour away) on the 20th and 21st.

Posted By: consuelo Re: Play Ball! - 01/14/02 11:16 PM
They would be playing the Michigan Battle Cats, Boston Red Sox's Class A affiliate from the Midwest League. Gee, how do I know this?Battle Creek is not as close to me as Climax, but pretnear.

Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: Play Ball! - 01/16/02 12:55 AM
Faldage and Mav (last I heard) are in charge of off-site entertainment.

Posted By: Wordwind Re: Play Ball! - 01/17/02 10:31 PM
Just for the record, I'm no longer going to join in the festivities. But it should provide some entertaining reading here.

You all enjoy all those sporting events!

Oh, WW, PLEASE change your mind! PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted By: Sparteye Re: WORDAPALOOZA reminder - 01/17/02 11:13 PM
I've been working on organization updates today, and if the heathens permit, I'll probably get some info sent out within the next few days. It is time to actually pay attention to this little project...

Posted By: Faldage Re: Play Ball! - 01/18/02 01:24 PM
And the LugNuts are the Chicago Cubs Midwest League affiliate.

Hey, Sparteye--

You wouldn't happen to have an extra freezer, would you?
If so, could you save us some snow so we can have a snowball fight?

Posted By: Faldage Re: Snowballing out of season - 01/19/02 01:52 PM
so we can have a snowball fight?

Ever freeze snowballs?

More like an iceball fight.

Posted By: Angel Re: Snowballing out of season - 01/19/02 11:20 PM
Ever freeze snowballs?

Faldage....don't think she has! Those suckers hurt when you whip 'em at someone in June! Remember doin' that when I was a kid....middle of summer....you can leave a pretty good bruise on someone with one of those things!

Posted By: Keiva Re: Snowballing out of season - 01/20/02 12:21 AM
OK, then we'll have a marshmallow fight instead.
Is that under the jurisdiction of the food committee, or the entertainment committee?
Posted By: belMarduk Re: Snowballing out of season - 01/20/02 02:21 AM
Allo all, nice to see you all again.

Yup, the time is coming near. I am missing some surveys for the WP Yearbook (y'all know who you are ) so if you are missing the form just drop me a note.

Sparteye, I'll send you a copy of my list of attendees so we can make sure we are on the same page and we are not missing anybody.

I am so looking forward to this. Heyyyy, who's up for sky-diving?

Heyyyy, who's up for sky-diving?

Sorry bel, I only fly with wings and at least two turbofans ...

Posted By: Keiva Re: Snowballing out of season - 01/20/02 02:18 PM
Kiwi, we alrady knew that of you!

Websters: kiwi: a flightless New Zealand bird with rudimentary wings, stout legs, a long bill, and grayish-brown hairlike plumage.

I am off the the gallery to review the Kiwi's hairlike plumage.

May you have had much joy of the vision ...

I never knew kiwis were chicken?!?!

I never knew kiwis were chicken?!?!

Oh, no, not chicken. But not stupid, either. A.J. Hackett was one of the inventors of the bungy-jump. He tried it out a few times himself (without defining "a few", he thought gratefully). But please note that he gets other people to pay him to let them risk their lives ...

As I said, not stupid!

Posted By: Keiva Re: WORDAPALOOZA! reminder - 04/07/02 09:02 PM
Oh, oh, we have a problem.

Michigan statute: "Any person who shall use any indecent, immoral, obscene, vulgar or insulting language in the presence or hearing of any woman or child shall be guilty of a misdemeanor." MCL 750.337; MSA 28.569; Pub. Acts 1897, No. 219.

Now how can we possibly attend Wordapalooza! under such a sword?
Sparteye, can you give us any comforting legal advice?
