Because, here in the US, it clearly has little to do with "sport" anymore...

********

When does it 'become time' to change the word *we use to describe something (quite evident) with a new, appropriate, more accrurate and functionally descriptive term?

Is it only a matter of how many and how often people use it, as the OED may suggest?

...Or would it "cheapen" the whole *thing to change the words now? <evil-grin>

When are we gonna stop calling it "The World Series"?

When they stop playing it. Or them.

Probably at the same time as they stop calling it the Miss Universe pageant.

Or either that or change the definition of the first word to match the change in the referrent.
