from the inescapable you can't flee - against the ineluctable you can't win

a word that needs more traffic i think Well, I haven't imagined you as a fatalist, so far, but maybe it's an ineluctable trend.

Is eluct related to elude?

Well, the e part is. But not really: elude < eludo, eludere, elusi, elusum est '(lit.) to finish play; to elude or parry another's blow' (< ludo 'to play'); eluct < elector, eluctari, eluctatum 'to struggle out of' (< luctor 'to wrestle').
