The above is the title of a webspace folder in my account at http://www.idrive.com. There have been a lot of posts here referring to divers opera, both aural and written, and it occurred to me that having a space available to serve as a repository for these odds and sods might not be such a bad idea. There are 50MB free in the account, so if anybody ever wants to post a recording, a jpeg, or even a novel for the edification/entertainment of others here, please feel free. To access it just logon as maxquordlepleen, password Crescent. I mean this offer, so please avail yourselves of it whenever it may seem to be of use. I feel comfortable doing this, as it seems from what I've seen that not too many of you will be in a hurry to fill it to the gunwhales with pictures of Britney Spears, or recordings of Marilyn Manson

Better photos of ourselves than of Britney Spears! Wouldn't that add an interesting dimension to this board?

Certainly FS, particularly if you dress like her ... I look forward to it.

Hmm, I see from your profile that your "RL" initials are DK - "dame Kiri" peut-ętre? Proof if you please, or if you dare.

Oh dear, sweetie, you've finally twigged! I sit here at my computer, cracking mirrors with arpeggios and trying to be a ducking diva, a closet coloratura, and you come along and blow my cover!

Actually, life hasn't been the same since my husband ran off with an older woman. Then I get invited to sing in Zild, and what happens? The only song that anybody wants to listen to is Pokarebloodyana! The only offers I've had since then are to play the wicked stepmother in the Christmas panto and to sing "Ten Guitars" as a duet with John Rowls for the Flying Nun label.

O me miseram!

Man, you guys are insane! Om, mane padme hum indeed.

Max, could we really put pictures of ourselves there?
Are you willing to take the risk of being disbarred from

Thank you, sweet Max, you are most generous. Oh! Oh! I just remembered! Can somebody put on that Dragon song???

Jackie exclaimed Oh! Oh! I just remembered! Can somebody put on that Dragon song???

Altruism be damned, they bloody well better - why do you think I made the offer?!

Addendum: Will all of our dear friends whose English is of a North American flavour please note that "bloody" is a very innocuous expletive in these here parts.

Thanks for the offer, Max - I just went out and posted a jpg to help get the ball rolling. As a mere stranger, I wasn't sure this would be of any more interest than Britney Spears, but what the he**.

Thanks, Fiberbabe, your temerity has shamed me out of my timidity, and so, you are no longer alone. I have taken the liberty of creating a folder named as above, and have placed our snaps therein

I've just posted The Green-Eyed Dragon (plus amendments) to Max's area on driveway.com.

Cheers all, and enjoy!

[disappointed sniff emoticon] Demn! I rushed over there hoping to hear the song. Oh well, thanks for the lyrics, let's see if anybody else can find aa recording to upload.

Posted By: Capital Kiwi Re: AWADabilia - but I wanna HEAR it! - 01/17/01 09:48 PM
I searched, but couldn't find a recording on line. Since it was last recorded on a 78, I somehow doubt that you'll ever see one. The 78 is available for sale at about US$5 on one of the bulletin boards that Google came up with.

Sorry, folks.

Ain't napster grand? My driveway account now includes an mp3 of John Charles Thomas singing "The Green-Eyed Dragon". Come one, come all!

Deleted Napster some time ago - and had forgotten about it. As I'd obviously forgotten some of the words of The Green-Eyed Dragon. Thanks for that, Max. It sounds a bit "old", especially the scratches, although they sound exactly the same as the scratches I remember from my 78.

Great stuff! [Good for You emoticon]

Capital Kiwi remarke Deleted Napster some time ago - and had forgotten about it.

As had I. I decided to reinstall Napster after reading of your fruitless search. Old, arcane, pieces like this one are the sorts of downloads that I have no qualms about using Napster for. If I didn't get them through Napster, I would never hear them. I found Alan Jones' Donkey Serenade, also.

Lemme see ... "There's a song in the air, but the fair senorita doesn't seem to care for the song in the air?"

How's that for a 39-year-old memory? Did I get it right?

Bravissimo! Now the bits en espaņol, por favor.

Oh, MAX, what a treat that was! And, C.K., thanks for bringing it up in the first place!

Oh, paulb and lusy, you probably have this, but if you don't, be sure and tune this in! Oh, what happened to the days of in-home entertainment around the piano, and just a well-done solo or duet version of a song,
or even a story, without all the added noise and gizmos?

Max:

I uploaded Poker Club, a novel I wrote a few yers ago and almost had published. It was eventually turned down because it was "too bloodthirsty." It isn't THAT bad, the publisher was a bit squeamish. It's out there for anyone to take a look at. Beware: it does have violence and computer sex in it. It's copyrighted, but I hope anyone who downloads it doesn't pass it around willy nilly.
