Dear tsuwm: I took a look at Beyond Blackstump, and it looks as though you are in good company.

Well, tsuwm, you know the old adage: The only bad publicity is no publicity.

As a randomly selected representative of Oz (ie. the first one here today) I can safely say that I have *no idea! Had never heard of the Beyond the Black Stump site before.

I'm with Juan, all publicity is good publicity!

It's a good thing.

There's also a (really bad) comic strip with the same name. I can't find it, but I did find this:

Good thing

Well, it lists the Queen Mother and the apocalypse. Seems fine to me.

I'd say yes -- currently there are 35 AUs and 8 NZs (out of say ~1300).

A very good thing, I'm sure, -- but, if you please, what is oz?

inselpeter, you mean you don't know where the great land of Oz is? OK, here you go: http://makeashorterlink.com/?X1C6222B Alternatively, you can find Oz here: http://makeashorterlink.com/?L2B6422B Yeah, yeah, I know it's twice a YART, but it's the best!

Inselpeter:
try this phonetically: oz-tralia.
I know nothing of the site, but certainly down here the mythical "black stump" is a place that is always far, far away. It is used to illustrate the magnitude of any item in question, eg: "It's the best deal you'll get this side of the black stump" or "She has the best legs this side of the black stump" etc etc etc.

Wow, thanks, zootie! [taking liberties e] (heck, helen set the precedent, so go blame her...) Where did that expression come from?
