Everybody clear on how to play this game?

Posted By: Rainmaker Re: Attn: strange and not-so-strange - 06/27/05 05:48 PM
Eh-hem...

Er, no.

Having graduated to Journeyman, I confess to feeling silly I don't. I did a search of AWAD and saw it mentioned as a game.

I'll hazard a guess - post a neologism and ask for a definition? Or daffynition?

at this point, PM tsuwm with your definition, real or otherwise, and he'll compile a list, which we can then vote on.

it's all very serious...

oops..

the rules (such as they were), for the uninitiated:
http://wordsmith.org/board/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=wordplay&Number=29261

but the points no longer matter, so it all could be boiled down to: the hogmasterŪ posts a really, really obscure word and y'all hogminions submit made-up definitions*. after a respectable period of time the hogmaster posts a list of submitted def'ns, along with the actual one, and everyone then votes for a) the one they think most likely, or b) the one they like best or that tickles their fancy.

*looking up the word (if'n you could even find it) kind of defeats the purpose of the game; and if you should, by some freak happenstance, know the word, make something up anyway.

TMI?

Wow. Now THAT is a game!

Thanks for the info.

Oops...just made an iggri-gious error. Oh well. My daffynition is in your PMbox

full disclosure or fair use or cross-threading or some such doctrine requires that I provide the alternate spelling for this word; to wit, iggry. besides which one of the early entries alluded to it being the answer to that damn riddle.

that damn riddle.

Posted By: Rainmaker Re: hogwash? - 06/28/05 08:31 PM
Well! That just makes me angry and hungry!

Don't you agree?

yes, I extended the usual sennight period because of the long holiday weekend; but don't neglect to get your entry in. this looks like an interesting round, based on early entries -- also, it marks the return of some regular participants out of the past!

last call! I'll be posting the entries sometime Sunday.

It's been so long, I've forgotten my definition. Mehbe I'll vote for my own by mistake.

You make mistakes, Faldo?

I did not know that. [rolling-eyes e]
