Hoping that this will provide some quick postings, quick reading, and light relief...

Some time ago, I read that a new business is California
(where else?) had unusual names for its conference rooms, so that when someone got a call, the receptionist could say that So-and-so's in---.

I think mine might be named --consistent. Others?

- The Oval Office

A family friend had a cruising ship called Business - his secretary would inform callers "Mr X is away on Business" without batting an eyelid.

Ok, how about:

-satiable
-ebriated
-continent
-potent (if said fast enough)

Posted By: wsieber Re: "In" conference - 11/07/00 12:54 PM
slightly different tack:
-sipid
-dividual
-terested
-dustrial...

-dustrial...

Ooh! How 'bout naming the conf. room "Dustrious"??? Then the receptionist could say, "Mr. Sieber is in Dustrious".
And the caller could say, "Well, yes, I know, but is he in, please?" And the whole thing would start all over!

Off thread. I work for a publisher. We name our conference rooms after authors. One of the authors has the happy name of Augee.

Inviting external visitors to come with us to the Augee Room has raised eyebrows, questions and maybe even expectations...

the Augee Room

Surely, Shirley...it isn't by any chance pronounced Oh, Gee?

Nope, although some may say that when invited there!
