19 votes were cast to the winds, in the following manner:

7 for the OED - the opposite of isotropy (anisotropy)
max, ted, flatlander, vernon score two points; jimthedog, fiberbabe, rapunzel score one
3 for Flatlander's "tendency in plants to grow upwards"
2 for Bingley's "sudden change in wind direction"
2 for caradea's "existing in a state of suspension caused by wind"
2 for Vernon's "evolutionary process by which limbs become wings"
2 for Bobyoungbalt's "bombast, logorrhea" [but 1 BS-vote]
1 for tsuwm's "change in the pigmentation"

so the big moves are made by Flatlander (5 pts) and Vernon (4 pts).

no-round-is-complete-without-irregularities dept.
W3 gives a second sense for anisotropy, after defining aeolotropy as such:
bot. change of position in response to the action of external stimuli

this comes perilously close to suggesting (in a non-creepy manner) Flatlander's "the tendency in plants to grow upwards, as opposed to growing along the ground (agoratropy)". too bad he seems to have invented the word agoratropy as well.... nice try, Flatl. (do you suffer from agoraphobia by any chance?)

I'll post the scoring update later.

Flatlander, would you care to be hoghost for a round or two (along with the coincident drought in points)?

I'll post the new HogWash word tomorrow. And, by the way, my aeolotropy definintion (including the word agoratropy) was complete and total hogwash. The only -tropy I could think of was heliotropy, which is the way plants grow towards sunlight (and the reason I need to rotate the basil on my windowsill seemingly every half-hour), and I based it on that.

And, what, just because I spend an inordinate amount of time on the internet and I live in the 49th least populated state in the nation (Hi, Wyoming!), you think I'm afraid of crowds?

just for grins (and lord knows I could use a few grins), I tallied up the number of votes the dictionary entries have garnered, which is (approx.) 81. I guess we need to put more work into our bluffs, people!
