Also, I noticed that he'd still get GLEANER out of GNARLED, but you're right ..looks as if there were 6 minutes between ..A puzzlement.

No, I didn't see it at all; it may have been posted during the time I was composing and researching GLEANER. A delayed-action "not-quite-simulposting," as it were. But it does come from GNARLED too, via D->E, as posted above... blush

Luke - sorry for overlooking your SPLASHES - you posted it while I was researching and writing my PLEASES and it wasn't seen. Regarding HAPLESS: it's a repeat - in both post # 222728 (above SPLASHES) and also a few days earlier at the referenced time (post # 2226879). We all do it occasionally.

The site as a whole is very inactive. The top posters above me
(with sometimes exception of tsuwm) have totally disappeared.
Lot of folks online, guests and spiders, all the time, and new
members continue to register. Sometimes someone comes on only to
ask a question, gets it and then disappears. This thread and the
one called "Mensopause III" are the only regularly active threads.
It's a shame too. When I joined there was much discussion, but
it slowly faded out. People watch but seldom comment. But we can
hope. You made it back, perhaps others will see you and return.

I think Facebook is killing these such venues. I know several who were once top posters herein that are currently fairly active on FB but no posts for years here: Faldage, Annastrophic, Buffalo Srdlu, TEd Remington, just to name a few. Too bad, really. This site was a source of many good discussions once.

As I recall, Robert Heinlein used "fair dinkum" regularly in The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, as part of the polyglot-derived Loonie dialect. (Now I'm going to have to dig it out and read it again...)

SWAT the BABE, and you'll spoil your future (esp. if Children's Svcs gets wind of it)

How about
BABE
BARE
WARE
WART
SWAT ? ..but also BABE, BASE,SWAB,SWAT

Before we leave this thread, can you please explain the relevance of BABE and SWAT? Swat in Pakistan?

Incidentally, did you know that there is a town in Swat called Odigram? Sounds like a kind of word game, or something from the 'Mensopause' thread...
