As one fascinated with the ivory-bill, I'll take F

gimme a.

I'm going to yield to the temptation of C .

The L with it.

I like C too.

I like I just for its audacity.

Eagerly awaiting the ArmilŪ Report.

N sounds right to me.

Probably should have done 'turves' first? O sounds plausible as a foreign or archaic spelling of 'spate' but A. is also going with K.

I choose I

I couldn't tell if this was a vote for A and/or K until it occurred to me that you often refer to yourself (somewhat solipsistically) as A. so A. votes for K?!

btw, I'd venture that turves is pl. for turf..

Me vote for "I".
A mere formality. My definition was so close to "I" that hogmaster tsuwm saw fit not to list it with the others.

Win - win.

I thought C at first, but I have come to H as my final answer.

Solipsism seems a bit arrogant, possibly better applied to a certain fuzzy animal Aramis knows. Perhaps there is some defense mechanism at work, for lack of something more convenient like being unpronounceable?

Anyone seen this site? It is impressively thorough. http://www.answers.com/
Found this funny point in it:
A critic would point out that many solipsists have died in the history of the world, and it hasn't disappeared yet.
btw, I'd venture that turves is pl. for turf..

Actually was guessing that but thought it could be something fancier. Hope getting more of these clever white text asides is not a bad sign.

It's not. [pat on shoulder e]
Posted By: belMarduk Re: Speight - 06/10/06 12:24 AM
I say A.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: speight specified - 06/12/06 10:57 PM
perhaps everyone has voted that intends to... but, conventionally, the poll will remain open 'til Wed. noon.
Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: speight specified - 06/13/06 08:51 AM
I'd like to comment on why I didn't vote for some of the daffynitions before you finger the perps, tsuwm.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: speight specified - 06/14/06 09:53 PM
the voting period has expired -- here's your chance to comment afore I post the startling results.

p.s. - I think all of the definers have selected a definition for the definienda but for WO'N. I will permit him to slip in under the velvet rope if he can do so whilst I'm dithering.

Just a couple comments:

a) long-handled needs a hyphen

j) is too long

OK, I'm done now.

Atcherly there are handled and unhandled gaffs. This post is a handled one, for example, since there is a subject up above. without a subject, of course, it would be unhandled.

And perhaps the same applies to the more physical gaffs.

So it is your decision whether this is a long handled gaff or a short handled gaff. Pretty much a judgment call, I spect.

Filling in for mav I'll finger the following ArmilsŪ.

B and F

J and N

Filling in for themilum I'll point out that one of these Armils is the correct answer.
