I love how Kevin Bacon's character in Pay It Forward [a 6th grade teacher] stresses vocabulary improvment to his students. There's a great scene where Helen Hunt's character looks up "euphemism" in a dictionary, as she's unsure of it's meaning. Yes, Pay It Forward is a GREAT movie.

eu·phe·mism (yf-mzm)
n. The act or an example of substituting a mild, indirect, or vague term for one considered harsh, blunt, or offensive: “Euphemisms such as ‘slumber room’... abound in the funeral business” (Jessica Mitford).

Hi Brian, welcome to the Board.

A teeny correction...Kevin in Pay it forward was Spacey not Bacon. I liked the movie too - very suprised at the ending.

I'm not quite sure what your post is about though....
did you wish to discuss euphemism or gourmandise?

ASp posted about the street names a few threads down in this same category...you might want to check in there if you want to discuss that topic.
