I don't know whether to be amused or bemused by this word; but I offer it up for another round of claptrappery.

the word is ucalegon, but I think a few of you may know of this.

I say, "Let er rip!" If it looks ill-conceived we can let it die a natural death.

perhaps I didn't make it obvious; but the clock is ticking (and I have three(3) entries).

It's a hard word to come up with a definition for. I've been mulling over it for a few days. I'll try to get something in to you soon.

just a helpful(?) reminder: avoid armilery® at all costs!

Give me a break Hogsuwm, it's not easy manufactoring
a definion for "ucalegon" (which is pronounced you-ka-le-gone)
without sounding claptrappery.

yes, well that hasn't stopped you afore!

How's the definitions coming, tsuwm? It's been four days.

Just once (before I whatever) I would like to see a Hogwash definition that is lettered "Z".

It might help some, tsuwm, if you would stop being aloof and actively and eagerly solicited entries from the hitherto unwashed legions of the Awad public.

Would it break your jaw to ask "please"?
Posted By: tsuwm Re: And yet another hogwash definer - 01/21/06 05:28 PM
okay. please stop giving me such a hard time?!

p.s. - I now have 15 entries, but the lists are open until Monday. (however, 26 entries could be unwieldy, somewhat, said joe ponderously)

Sixteen ... counting mine.
Posted By: tsuwm Re: And yet another hogwash definer - 01/22/06 04:31 PM
this is the last call; I'll be posting entries sometime Monday morning -- after dawn, that is.
Posted By: maverick Re: And yet another hogwash definer - 01/23/06 01:15 AM
Is Dawn around at the moment?
Posted By: TEd Remington Re: And yet another hogwash definer - 01/23/06 01:24 AM
Nope. It was determined that there was a sock puppet relationship among her, Owlbow, and Zed.

It was a sad day when Owl was Zed and Dawn.

To pervert this utterly into a word thread, my wife, who's of Maaori extraction, is named Dawnmarie. Marie means "morning" in Maaori.

"It was a sad day when Owl was Zed and Dawn."

Yes Ted, and it'll be a sad day if you ever stop throwing ringers!

Thanks for the smile.
If I had three hands they would all be clapping.
Posted By: Alex Williams Re: And yet another hogwash definer - 01/23/06 03:45 AM
If you had 24 hands you could have a case of clap.
Posted By: themilum Re: And yet another hogwash definer - 01/23/06 04:02 AM
Not so, Alex Williams. I have 24 hands in my warehouse operation and I have found that it only takes a six-pack to have a case of the claps.
(by the way, Alex, why do you describe a case of the claps as singular?)
Posted By: maverick Re: And yet another hogwash definer - 01/23/06 07:02 AM
> claps as singular

Milo, for most guys once would be more than enough!
Posted By: Alex Williams Re: And yet another hogwash definer - 01/23/06 10:53 AM
At most a six pack to get a case of the clap...

I applaud your wordplay.

If you find your penis illin'
Take a shot of penicillin
But best of all avoid the clap
With timely use of latex wrap

Is that from the same source as "Loose lips sink ships"? Just idle academic curiosity....

I believe that literary tidbit was a rejected idea for a VD poster circa 1943. Here's an interesting patriotic poster from the WWII era.

Nice poster.
I just got here, and TEd, I feel used, I don't really mind, I just don't want to get a bad (w)rap.

Better 'n a case of the claps I suppose.

Silly, silly Americans who think a "six-pack" is a real case. That's not even enough for your hollow tooth...A true case is a two-four - 24 bottles of beer.
