Noshville.
And you can eat anything from a hominy grit to a Contac time pill.
But there's only one place to get a half-sour pickle or a corn beef
sandwich in Noshville,
Just ask anybody how to get to Katz's if you're looking to eat well!

About a year ago it was impossible to find a kosher delicatessan.
And the people said, "Mr. Katz, won't you open up a place where the
people can fressin'?"
Well, it was a good idea for a Brooklyn boy to bring a kosher deli
to Noshville.
And his bubbah asked him who would eat his food
He said, "The Tennessee folks will!"

So, they call him

Have a Yiddishe dish
A potato knish
Or a bagel and cream cheese.

Akschully, the best "kosher" deli is . . . Katz's, on Houston and Ludlow, since who knows when. A sign over the counter and dating probably from WWII says, "Send a salami to your boy in the Army"

Noo Yoikers, huh... who else ud feed gladly on Katz food?!

John Sebastian was often seen noshing in Katz's in the '60s.

And there used to be a good one (Kosher deli) on 2nd Avenue somewhere between 10th and St. Mark's Place (or mebbe between St. Mark's and 7th across from Cooper Union?), as I recall. I used to munch there frequently as it was around the corner from where I lived circa '78 (stopped in almost daily for my morning bagel).

Then there was Wolfie's uptown.

The Second Avenue Deli, at Ninth Street, is closing its doors -- perhaps even as I write this. Can't afford a new lease. Its founder who, it seems, was a good guy, was shot to death five or seven years ago, on the street while carrying his earnings to the night deposit box.
