breakfast

I thought it would be fun to see how much we can influence the Google ads. by using keywords in our posts we should be able to manipulate the content of the ads.

so let's start with "breakfast", and see where we can end up?

Well, I'm not seeing any ads. I saw some the other day, but not today. Maybe it was just a flash in the pan? It sounds like it could be a fun game.

Maybe the flash in your pan was from the bacon bursting into flames. I'd suggest using a gas stove if you're using an electric now. Much better temperature regulation.

Okay. Now we have some.

Wull, keep the flame lower. Do your eggs get burned around the edges?

That popped us up American Diabetes Association. Maybe I'll have some Quaker Oats instead, eh?
Posted By: Buffalo Shrdlu Re: 6 degrees - 11/18/05 10:53 AM
well, at least we're not toast. guess we got to butter it up a bit more...

bacon and eggs sounds good. go well with my coffee and orange juice.

We haven't managed to shake the Christian Bulletin Board. Maybe it's time for cold pizza and warm beer.

I've always liked the way a sip of coffee tastes right after a bite of bacon, but I'm not seeing any Google ads at all.
Posted By: Marianna get back to the bacon - 11/18/05 12:02 PM
I seen them in between my orange juice and muffins, before my coffee and buttered toast, but they were "Interactive Group Forums" and "Christian Bulletin Board" still... maybe group breakfasts is what we should be doing?

EDIT: On the other hand, we may have done it!:

they have disappeared!?!?!

I was going to say to be careful about posting the ads, because that would then skew the results, but, I'm not seeing any right now... hmm...

group breakfast sounds great Marianna! wish we could do it IRL!

Well, what's the porpoise of having fun with the ads if we don't post what we see? I think they change with each view, but I have noticed that when I post and am taken back to the forum to view my post, there are no ads. I got the Christian BB and the 4X4 again (in the future to be refered to as "same-old, same-old"), but after Alex' post, I saw

well, here at home I have the ads again, but they're for forums, etc. let's get back to breakfast! or at least pots and pans!
Posted By: AnnaStrophic Re: pots n pans - 11/18/05 09:18 PM
Last year I bought a couple of those bright red "as seen on TV!" pots that have a drainer built into the top (there's a lever on the side you can move to slide it open or shut). Great idea, but they suck. The teflon lining quickly eroded and the tops don't fit on securely. I'm gonna plant something in them, I guess.

pots that have a drainer built into the top Ack--sorry you had to find out the hard way, but glad to have the info. I've always just set a colander in the sink and dumped the contents out of the pot into and through it. That's what my mom did, so...'s'good enough for me.
Posted By: Buffalo Shrdlu Re: pots n pans - 11/18/05 10:40 PM
I used one of those at a friends earlier this year, and it was great. this one was built a bit differently than you describe, with the strainer more of a collar on the lid, with a slight spout built into the edge of the pot. the coating seemed fine. not sure of the brand, however.

(still bulletin board/forum ads...)

so, anyway...

turkey and stuffing...
Posted By: consuelo Re: pots n pans - 11/24/05 10:56 AM
I'd rather have a spiral honey ham and glazed sweet potatoes.

Edit: That nets me a crepe maker (home use) and still the cast iron camping cookware. Sure, I'll trade that in on what's behind curtain number 3.

hmm. I'm still getting forum software...

maybe cranberry sauce and mimosas...

Don't we perpetuate the subject of the ads by quoting them in posts?

And shouldn't spyware-blockers minimize their accuracy? (Do we all have 'em?)

Edit: no ads at all on this particular message. Had to sign on again, although I don't recall logging out since yesterday. "More things on heaven and Earth," I guess...

yeah, I mentioned the quoting thing earlier. hard to talk about something if you can't talk about it, though!

spyware progs are self-contained to your machine, and shouldn't come into play with something like google ads. google is just scanning the text on this page for relevant words, and placing ads accordingly.

I don't see the ads if I click the "last post" icon on the main page, I only see them if i enter from the category, and click the thread.

I wonder. The only time I've had a Google ad in French (see above) was when I had a French-language page open in another window.

mebbe it picked up on the reference to crepe, le creuset and figgered this was cheese-eating terroire?
