I suppose it's not of English origin ;) What exactly does the word mean?
Sounds like somethin yud warsh.
Hi, rav! Where have you been? Your word sounds like a cough.
I've never seen it with the "h", but it's usually a nickname. oftentimes a big, burly sorta guy...
..or either a Harley Hawg, one.
Googling suggests a Czech interjection.
>Nice syntax
you upstate NYer southrons have me so bumfuzzled I'll never be able to write proper ever agin.
-joe (northpaw) friday
Or either Polish, one.
Although one would expect rav to know it if it were.
Now I started wondering if the spelling had been all right.. I thought the word was some kind of Indians' greeting, 'peace brothers' or the like. But Czech or Polish interjection? I'm confused ;P
could you be referring to the stereotyped television Indian greeting "How!"?
Czech or Polish interjection?Googling turns up a bunch of Czech and Polish sites, but it also seems to be a Family name.

Shame on you ;P Hope you don't understand what have they written (or do you?) ;)
It's used as a greeting there. I'm asking about it because I used to use the word as greeting too and have been recently told that the meaning is slightly different. But noone would explain me what is the proper one :o
