I am familiar with the word epitaph (upon the tomb) as being an inscription at the burial place and a cenotaph (empty tomb) as being a memorial inscription at a place other than the place of burial but I encountered CARDIOTAPH today. It is an inscription at the location of the deceased's heart. The heart is usually in a jar of some type that has been taken to some sentimental site associated with the deceased. Anybody else know of this word ?.

Bill, I'm not finding anything either, but upon googling I have the sense that it my be related to the "heart scarabs" used in the mummification of ancient egyptian royalty. After the weekend, I'll try to check it out with eqyptologists at the University of Chicago, which is noted in that field.

Meanwhile, Bill, take all look at heart scarabs under google, and let me know whether this seems promising to you.
