How many of you have noted the increasing use of phrases like: "as voted by you"?

I was always under the impression that it should be: "as voted for by you".

Comments? Opinions? (I promise to reveal the results, as voted for by you!)

I think it should be "voted for by you".

I suppose it is an expression which is generating alternatives as it is difficult to read if the context is not clear - for by is an unusual combination.

Is it only used to those who have voted for a particular person/event or is it used for alllthose involved in the process. Surely the aim of voting is to select someone so it should be "as selected by you" or "as chosen by you".
